A Tale of Two Cities

I think this works as a stand alone story but it is linked to this story from last week.

How many people were there in Cardiff? Three hundred and fifty thousand? Something like that. And how many had Carol had an extra marital fling with? One. So how come that one had just walked into the cafe that she was sitting in with her children, husband, and his parents? Carol hadn’t wanted to go to Cardiff in the first place. She had tried to talk her husband into going to Bath but his bloody parents wanted to go to the castle so Cardiff it was. She looked at Elis order his coffee at the counter and remembered that night a few weeks ago when he had worked his magic. She felt herself redden as she remembered the noise she made as she climaxed.
“I need to wee,” she announced to her family, and headed for the toilet hoping Elis wouldn't see her.
She sat on the loo working out what to do. She didn't feel guilty; why should she? She was a woman. She had needs; needs that had been ignored by Lew since the birth of their second child. She didn't blame him really; like a good modern man he'd been with her through every moment of labour. The second one had been long and messy; it must be difficult to have sexual desires for someone you’d seen in that state. She probably wouldn’t fancy herself if she’d seen herself give birth. But Elis hadn't seen her give birth so he saw her as the beautiful, sexy woman that was. When she realised he fancied her, she decided she'd used him get what she wanted from him and go back to her marital home. If there was any guilt, it was for Elis. She should have at least told him she was married; told him it was just a one off. But why dampen the mood? And anyway it might not just be a one off.
She hoped he was just buying takeaway and would be gone by the time she came out. If he was staying, she hoped at least he would have the decency to ignore her. Surely he wouldn't make a fuss, would he? She wished she had his number so she could send him a text; tell him she was there with her family and was hiding in the loos. But she didn't, so she couldn't. She straightened her skirt, washed her hands, counted to ten and went back into the cafe.
To her horror she saw Elis had not only stayed but squeezed into the seat next to the family. Thankfully his head was down and he was engrossed his book. If she was lucky, she could get them out of there before Elis looked up.
“All finished,” she said quietly, but her voice had alerted the man on the next table. He looked up and stared at her, his mouth open in disbelief. Carol was desperately trying to give him a message with her eyes.
“Elis, there you are.” Carol looked around to see a tall dark-haired girl had come into the cafe and was making her way towards Elis. Elis looked away from Carol and embraced the newcomer in a way that told Carol they were more than just friends and that Carol's secret was safe.
