The Test part 1

This story was originally published on 2/4/2013... Bloody Blogger Bumped it to the top when I added the link to part two.

‘It’s over!’ Lewis delivered the knockout blow with a determination in his voice that told Lisa that whatever she said he wouldn’t change his mind.

‘Why?’ Lisa was more confused than upset, everything seemed to be going well, why was he breaking up with her? They’d been together 3 weeks, last night they’d spent their 4th night together, it had been the best so far, she'd felt like they'd got over the fumbling getting to know you stage, this morning he’d fixed her some eggs before suggesting a walk to feed the ducks.
Now as he threw bread at the birds he dropped this bombshell with a stern voice and a faraway look in his eye.
Lewis shrugged his shoulders, still not looking at her. ‘I just don’t feel it’s working.’
Lisa wasn’t going to cry, she wasn’t going to beg. She just turned and walked away leaving the prat to his thoughts and his ducks.
Lewis sensed her walk away, he didn’t really want to dump her but he had to, she had failed the test.
His mother had taught him the test years ago. It was simple, when you got a girl back to your place drop some money on the floor and leave it there. See what she does. He could hear his mother’s voice now as he watched the seaguls and ducks fight over the bread.
‘If she picks it up and puts it somewhere safe, she’s a keeper – wife material. If she picks it up and puts it in her pocket, then she’s a little minx, not wife but mistress material - keep her for sex, nothing more. If she just leaves it there, then get rid. She’s a slob and she won’t look after you.’
Last night Lewis did the test, Lisa mentioned the money but left it there, he shrugged his shoulders – she had to go.

  1. What a jerk he is! I wouldn't definitely pass the test. Thanks God for me. I can't imagine staying with someone who uncritically follows such stupid rules (and listens to his mom):)
