Paranoid

You didn't think it through did you? You took the beer up to your room and then realised you could 'accidentally' pack the rather nice pint glass into your suitcase. No one would know you thought, no one would find out. But you’re an idiot. You forgot you were going to stroll around the town after checking out. You forgot you were planning to leave the suitcase at the hotel; leaving the evidence right under their noses. You forgot they would have two hours to clean your room and find the glass missing. And now, now you have to go back to the scene of the crime, to face your accusers. What will you do when they ask to look in your bag? Will you blush? Will you run? Or will you confess and cry like the big baby you are.
Jason tried to quieten the voice in his mind, where was his rational voice? The voice that could tell him everything would be okay. With a deep breath he entered the hotel. Would there really be police waiting? Would they really want to search his luggage?
‘Hi, can I have my bag please?’ His voice was calm, clear.
‘Of course sir, we hope you enjoyed your stay.’ the receptionist said with a smile.
‘Yes it was lovely, thank you.’
Jason couldn't get out of there quick enough. Yet again his paranoid mind had been proved wrong, but that didn’t stop it piping up again as he got into his taxi. ‘They'll get you next time.’
